1)Welcome/Notices

Call To Worship:   Psalm 145:1-8:   One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts. They speak of your glorious splendour of your majesty- and I will meditate on your wonderful works. (vv4-5)

2)Opening Prayer.  Praise, Confession and Lord’s Prayer.

Almighty God, you have called us together to worship you, chosen us to be your friends and invited us to extend that friendship to your people both in our home area and also in all the world. May we live as Jesus lived, serve as he served and love as he loved to the glory of your name.

Lord God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit draw us  into greater friendship with you that we might more readily draw others to know you also.

We hear your command Loving Lord, to love as you have loved that we might so inspire others. Your love is so precious to us. You are the truest and most faithful of friends to us, the most enduring companion.

Forgive us dear Lord for when we have turned away from you when our lives have been easy or overfilled  with distraction and activity. Forgive us we pray and help us to turn back to you today. For the sake of Jesus Christ our Loving Lord, whose life and death, deeds and words have saved us, we pray. Amen.

Lords Prayer.         Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name;  Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done; on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, For ever and ever, Amen.

3)Hymn: STF59. Lord The Light of your love is shining

https://youtu.be/uaTwx0ehbvM

Lord, the light of Your love is shining

In the midst of darkness shining

Jesus, light of the world shine upon us

Set us free by the truth You now bring us

Shine on me, shine on me

Shine, Jesus, shine

Fill this land with the Fathers glory

Blaze, Spirit, blaze

Set our hearts on fire

Flow, river, flow

Flood the nations with grace and mercy

Send forth Your word

Lord, and let there be light

Lord, I come to Your awesome presence

From the shadows into Your radiance

By the blood I may enter Your brightness

Search me, try me, consume all my darkness

Shine on me, shine on me

As we gaze on Your kingly brightness

So our faces display Your likeness

Ever changing from glory to glory

Mirrored here may our lives tell Your story

Shine on me, shine on me

Today’s reading to lead us into sharing bread and wine together is from St John’s Gospel .

4)Reading:  John 15:9-17.    New International Version.

9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. 17 This is my command: Love each other.

5)Communion:

6) Prayers for others - Cathy.
Gracious God, We come before you now to intercede for our world.

We know that you have created our world and it was perfect but we have failed to care for it properly, polluting the sea and the air  and harming wildlife and flora and fauna. Global warming that is  affecting glaciers causing problems for  animal habitats.

We pray for those that try to protect our environment, please help us to do our part.

We think of the people in India in the midst of the Covid crisis. We pray that they would receive the help and supplies they need.

We pray for Nazanin Zaghari Ratcliffe, who has been sentenced to another year of imprisonment in Iran, we pray that justice will be done.

We pray for the persecuted Church, those that don't enjoy the freedom to worship as we do. Please be with all the organisations that work tirelessly to help.

We pray for Lebanon, that the economic situation would improve and that a just and fair government would be formed.

We have a moment of silence where you can bring your prayers for the world.....

We pray for our Country especially after these local elections that the right people with a heart for their communities would have been elected.

We pray for our Government that they would make the right decisions especially with this Covid roadmap.

We pray for those known to us in need of prayer. For Rosa's sister Shirley please heal her.

For Doreen please bless her and especially on her special birthday next week. For

Linda's daughter-in-law s relative who is in need of our prayers.

We pray for those who have been bereaved,

Joan DeVilliers family, Steve Mayo and family on the death of his Mother. Please comfort all who mourn.

We pray for Sally who moved last week to be near her daughter Valerie. Please help her to settle into her new home. We pray for Dee who will miss her being round the corner.

Lord thank you that you hear our prayers, please help us to be aware of when we need to offer comfort, encouragement and love

In Jesus name we ask all these things

Amen

7) Sermon:    Passing on The Baton.

Jesus said to his first disciples, and through them to us, his modern day disciples, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.

As individuals and as Christ's  church we are “God's Love In Action”. As we love one another we show God’s love to others. As Christians who worship in the Methodist Church this is our way of life. In fact these goals of visibly demonstrating God’s love are written on our Church Membership Tickets….. Thus

“As far as we are able, with God’s help:

Worship:       We will pray daily. We will worship with others regularly. We will look and listen for God in Scripture, and the world.

Learning and Caring.   We will care for ourselves and those around us. We will learn more about our faith.  We will practise hospitality and generosity.

Service.  We will help people in our communities and beyond.  We will care for creation and all God’s gifts.  We will challenge injustice.

Evangelism. We will speak of the love of God.  We will live in a way that draws others to Jesus.  We will share our faith with others.

Today is our annual meeting, a time to review what we do and plan for what God may be calling us to do next, both as individuals and as a church.

Here is a reminder of our work as a church and as individual members.

11) Tick list . (Back of chairs). Please prayerfully ask God how he wants you to help take our church into the future, place your tick list in the offering basket as you leave. Thank you.

12)Hymn STF345 And can it be

https://youtu.be/sQeIGbKqiw8

And can it be that I should gain

An int’rest in the Savior’s blood?

Died He for me, who caused His pain—

For me, who Him to death pursued?

Amazing love! How can it be,

That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

Refrain:

Amazing love! How can it be,

That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

’Tis myst’ry all: th’ Immortal dies:

Who can explore His strange design?

In vain the firstborn seraph tries

To sound the depths of love divine.

’Tis mercy all! Let earth adore,

Let angel minds inquire no more.

He left His Father’s throne above—

So free, so infinite His grace—

Emptied Himself of all but love,

And bled for Adam’s helpless race:

’Tis mercy all, immense and free,

For, O my God, it found out me!

Long my imprisoned spirit lay,

Fast bound in sin and nature’s night;

Thine eye diffused a quick’ning ray—

I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;

My chains fell off, my heart was free,

I rose, went forth, and followed Thee.

No condemnation now I dread;

Jesus, and all in Him, is mine;

Alive in Him, my living Head,

And clothed in righteousness divine,

Bold I approach th’ eternal throne,

And claim the crown, through Christ my own.

Charles Wesley

13) Offering Dedication and Benediction:
